Quarter Scales are just that, Quarter scale versions of a Nascar race car. Quarter scale racing is the largest of all radio controlled auto racing. At 4 feet long, 18 inches wide, & weighing a minimum of 30lbs. The size alone sets them apart from all other scales of radio controlled race cars. Each of these cars has the same size (23cc) 2HP Zenoah engine, with no internal modifications allowed. Four wheel independent suspension with coil over shocks, fully adjustable castor, camber, & toe in/out. Which makes setup & driving style the keys to running fast & winning races.
All drivers & crews are required to maintain a current membership with QSAC (Quarter Scale Auto Club), Which is the national governing body for quarter scales. (like NASCAR). The membership fee is $50 per year. All race car specifications & racing event rules are established by QSAC.
Race timing & car positions are kept track of with car mounted transponders, which send signals back to a single computer, producing lap by lap results per car. Prizes vary depending on the type of event scheduled. Some prize examples are money, trophies, or just braggin' rights. Certain events award points, which are accumulated during the year & trophies are awarded for the highest point score in each of the individual classes. Race entry fees vary depending on the event, but typically the entry fee is around $20.
